Neck liposuction

Neck Liposuction is a technique using a cannula and gentle suction to remove excess fat from the Neck to improve contour.
Liposuction of the neck is a useful technique that may be recommended to you after talking to you and examining you. This procedure does not bring the neck muscles together. It also doesn’t involve cutting skin. Instead, it relies on the skin’s natural elasticity to shrink down. Neck Liposuction isn’t a substitute for weight loss, but can improve resistant areas to weight loss, such as fat under the chin or neck.

Together, we decide what areas need to be addressed and a contour map is drawn. A customised tumescent technique is applied to each person to ensure that local anaesthetic fluid is infused into the appropriate area to allow maximal fat harvest while still being able to assess the appearance of contour.

The incisions are 2 mm in length and are placed under the chin and behind the ears. A  gentle suction technique is used to remove excess fat using a feathering technique to ensure an even contour. We avoid liposuction techniques which can burn the fat or emulsify which can cause cysts and scarring. Hand suction involves more work, but gives a more predictable result.

The fat is removed from the deeper fat layer. We avoid over-removal of fat to avoid puckering and dimpling which can form when excess fat from the superficial layer is removed.

A compression garment is then worn for 2 weeks all the time and then for 2 weeks at night. This garment will be ordered especially for you after measuring you. This allows the tissues to retract to take advantage of the skin’s natural elasticity. The garment will also help prevent bruising, so you can get back to life quicker.

The procedure is performed as day surgery which means you can go home the same day. Please allows one week for recovery
